Had the pleasure of hearing an interview recently at Cactus Music with Howard E Scott, formerly of the band War. He discussed playing with Eric Burdon, the background of some of the songs, plus he told of playing with Jimi Hendrix the night before he died. I’ll add some of the interview in here. But for now, here are some photos from the day. Oh and here’s the event page for the event that day where you can also see other photos and videos. It was quite an experience.
Cactus Music regularly has amazing in-store performances. This was from the Cactus Music event page for their performance at Cactus on August, 25th, 2018:
‘Howard is the original singer/guitarist/co-writer of such hits as “The Cisco Kid,” “Slippin’ Into Darkness,” “Why Can’t We Be Friends?” “All Day Music,” “The World is a Ghetto,” “Summer,” “Galaxy,” and – of course – “Low Rider.” Howard’s band will include guest vocalist Tweed Smith and rapper Joe Mayberry.”
Oh and do you remember The Stag’s Head that used to be across the street” Now just a memory..
Couldn’t even see the sign at first. For a minute, I thought I was in Key West.
All in all it was a good day. Oh and if you’re looking for a good band, book Low Riders. Some formerly of ‘War’ they’re now peacefully living in this area and open to gigs.
